Naina Catherine Kapoor (Preity Zinta) is a

on. Her father committed suicide when she needed him the most, leaving her mother Jennifer (Jaya Bachchan) to raise their two young children all alone. The restaurant Jennifer operates is faltering. Furthermore, Naina's paternal grandmother, Lajjo (Sushma Seth), blames Jennifer for the suicide and refuses to accept Gia (Jhanak Shukla), a six-year-old girl whom Jennifer adopted, as her granddaughter, blaming her for bringing bad luck to the family. Naina has to put up with the daily fights that take place in the house as a result. The bright spots in her life are the toiling and tolerant Jennifer and Naina's bumbling MBA classmate Rohit (Saif Ali Khan)

Aman Mathur (Shahrukh Khan) arrives in Naina's neighbourhood and soon changes everything. Noticing the sadness of his new neighbours, he intervenes. His well-meaning interference in their activities, his revival of their financial condition, and his general optimism soon change their lives for the better. Although Naina is initially reluctant to enjoy Aman's presence as others do and is irritated by his extroverted, overly-enthusiastic attitude, she grows to like him and eventually falls in love with him.

Meanwhile, her friend Rohit has been in love with her. On Aman's encouragement, he calls Naina for lunch but before he can confess to her, she reveals her love for Aman. Rohit informs Aman about this and leaves shortly for his parents' home. Naina goes to Aman's house where, to stop her from confessing her feelings to him, Aman tells her that he is married to a woman named Priya (Sonali Bendre) who actually is his doctor.

Aman, it is revealed, is dying of a severe condition that is progressively weakening his heart. Knowing that his lifespan is limited, he goes through life facilitating friendships and courtship, and urging people to enjoy themselves in the present moment since "tomorrow might never come". His excursions into such altruism eventually lead him to sacrifice his love for Naina and instead play matchmaker between her and Rohit. After a few weeks of courtship, Naina starts to like Rohit as more than just a friend and accepts his proposal of marriage.

The tension within Naina's family also stops when Aman, after accidentally intercepting a personal letter addressed to Jennifer, reveals that Gia is Naina's half-sister through their father's extramarital affair. Jennifer's selfless acceptance of her husband's infidelity is what led to his suicide. Lajjo finally accepts Gia, and the now-united family wholeheartedly prepare for Rohit and Naina's wedding.

As the film progresses, Aman's health deteriorates. At the engagement party of Rohit and Naina, an episode of intense excitement nearly kills him. Naina, in a chance encounter, meets Priya, Aman's supposed wife, and learns that she is actually his doctor. She then realises that Aman had lied about his being married to hide his true condition, and possibly, the fact that he may love her in return. She goes to see Aman, and although he defiantly refuses to admit his true feelings, she finally understands that he loves her as well. Aman convinces her to get married to Rohit anyway, because he will not be alive for much longer. Naina agrees, and shortly after Rohit and Naina marry. Aman eventually dies of his weakness, with Rohit, Naina, and family by his side.

Many years later, we see an older Naina relating the story of Aman's selfless love to a grown Gia, her own daughter, and Rohit.

Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai

Rohit (Hritik Roshan) is working in as a salesperson in an automobile showroom owned by rich entrepreneur Mr. Malik. He is an aspiring singer who lives with his aged aunt and uncle and his younger brother Amit. One day he meets rich Sonia Saxena (Amisha Patel) when he goes to deliver a car to her home as her birthday present. They see each other later that night when Sonia and her friends are having a party on the beach. After Rohit sings for her, she invites him on a cruise to perform. There Sonia finds herself getting jealous over Rohit's popularity with her female friends. Sonia goes to sulk and drink in a lifeboat and Rohit follows. After they pass out on the life boat it detaches from the ship. When they awake they find themselves floating adrift in the ocean.

After landing on a nearby island many distractions cause them to forget about the boat and it drifts away. When they realize they are stuck, at first they argue. When Sonia jumps into the ocean and pretends to drown, Rohit jumps in after to save her. However, it is Rohit who needs saving, since he can't swim. When she asks why he jumped in after her, he confesses his love for her. After enjoying time together on the island, they are saved by Mr. Saxena (Anupam Kher). He is bitterly opposed to their relationship. He asks Rohit's boss, Malik (Dalip Tahil) to fire him. However, later he softens up a bit and challenges Rohit to do something big so that he can win back his love. Determined to prove himself, Rohit and his friends attempt to procure a record deal for him. Rohit eventually becomes famous, and prepares to put on a huge concert.

On the evening of the show, Rohit goes to pick-up his younger brother Amit from school to take him up to show. He witnesses two corrupt policemen shooting down their senior officer who has found out about their drug dealings. He also sees that the two policeman actually work for Malik, for whom he was working few days back. The policemen discover Rohit's presence and shoot at him. Rohit is chased by the policemen and falls into a river when his bike slips on a bridge. Sonia arrives on the scene and frantically shouts that Rohit doesn't know how to swim. A search party is sent down, but they don't find Rohit's body.

Sonia goes into depression so her father sends her to New Zealand to her cousin Neeta (Tanaaz Currim) to get over Rohit. When she reaches there she meets Raj Chopra (also Hrithik Roshan) in a club. He looks exactly like Rohit and is also a good singer. It turns out that Raj is a good friend of Sonia's cousin, and they end up meeting often. Raj soon falls in love with her, but she doesn't return his love because he reminds her too much of Rohit. When Raj doesn't understand, Sonia shows him pictures, and he is amazed at the likeness. Sonia goes back to India and Raj follows. On landing, however, he is shot at by one of Rohit's killers. Initially, Raj can't understand why he was attacked, but he later becomes suspicious that whoever attacked him has mistaken him for Rohit. He and Sonia manage to save themselves and hide in Rohit's old hideout. Here Sonia and Raj bond.

Soon after, Raj and Sonia figure out Rohit was murdered. They also find out that Rohit's brother Amit is also a witness of Rohit's murder. They go to meet Rohit's family and an old friend, who scolds "Rohit" for acting as if he were dead, and many emotional moments follow as they are told the truth. When Amit meets Raj, he is convinced that Rohit has come back to him. Raj does not have the heart to tell him the truth, and adopts Amit as his own brother. Together, Sonia, Raj, and their friends make a plan to find Rohit's killers. They reschedule the concert which Rohit was to perform the night he was murdered, with Raj replacing Rohit. The plan backfires and the murderers kidnap Sonia, but Raj rescues her. Then and there, he figures out who Rohit's killers are and it turns out that the mastermind behind the drug conspiracy and Rohit's murder is Sonia's father, Mr. Saxena. Sonia is heartbroken by this betrayal, but finally admits her love for Raj. In the end, Mr. Saxena is held by police and Raj and Sonia get engaged.

Veer Zaara

Sebuah film romantis berlatar belakang konflik India-Pakistan, yang sukses membius penonton dengan obsesi cinta namun sarat dengan idealisme dan pesan humanisme: kasih sayang antar manusia lintas batas, kesetaraan perempuan, dan perjodohan atas dasar politik dan harta yang harus diakhiri. Film ini bercerita tentang Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan), komandan squadron pesawat Indian Air Force, yang jatuh cinta pada Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta), putri seorang politikus Pakistan. Terpisah jarak, Zaara dan Veer tetap tidak bisa melupakan satu sama lain. Pembantu Zaara (Divya Dutta) berusaha menyatukan cinta mereka berdua dengan menghubungi sang kekasih di India. Akhirnya Veer keluar dari pekerjaannya dan pergi ke Lahore. Untung tak dapat diraih, walaupun ia sempat bertemu Zaara, gadis pujaannya tetap menikah dengan Raza dan ia ditangkap atas tuduhan spionase. Duapuluh dua tahun kemudian, seorang pengacara junior Pakistan bernama Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherjee) berusaha menolong Veer yang sekian lama mendekam di penjara dan tak pernah berbicara dengan siapapun. Ketika akhirnya Veer mau berbicara, ia menceritakan seluruh kisahnya kepada Saamiya, yang kemudian berusaha memperjuangkan qaidi (tahanan) nomor 786 ini, baik untuk kebebasannya di sidang pengadilan maupun untuk menemukan kembali cintanya yang hilang. Berakhir dengan sebuah happy ending yang dramatis khas film India, memanjakan penonton eskapis yang ingin melarikan diri dari pahitnya realita hidup, �Veer-Zaara� ditunjang dialog yang prima garapan Aditya Chopra, putra Yash yang juga sukses menyutradarai �Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge� dan �Mohabbatein�. Dialog di pengadilan antara Saamiya dengan lawannya (Anupham Kher) adalah salah satu contoh terbaik untuk itu.

TaRa RuM PuM

Drama Bollywood yang hadir di hadapan Anda ini menyajikan penampilan aktor Saif Ali Khan. Dalam kisah film "Ta Ra Rum Pum" arahan Siddarth Anand yang berseting di Amerika Serikat ini, Saif yang memerankan karakter utama Rajveer Singh ini berhasil keluar dari bayang-bayang dua aktor bermarga Khan lainnya, Shah Rukh Khan dan Aamir Khan.

Rajveer Singh yang akrab dipanggil RV ini bekerja sebagai kru pit stop tim balap New York Speedway, namun punya impian menjadi seorang pembalap pada suatu hari. Namun impiannya seperti mustahil terjadi karena ia bukan siapa-siapa. Tidak terduga pada suatu hari setelah berhasil meminta seorang sopir taksi, Hariprasad "Harry" Patel (Javed Jaffrey) mengizinkannya membawa ngebut taksi agar tidak terlambat bekerja di arena balap.

Kepiawaian RV dalam mengemudikan taksi itu membuat Harrry terkagum-kagum dan begitu pula penumpang taksi Harry, Radhika Banarjee (Rani Mukherjee). Kedua orang itu kemudian mengajak RV untuk bergabung ke dalam tim balap kecil yang hampir bangkrut, Speeding Saddles. RV yang menjadi pembalap Speeding Saddles ternyata berhasil menang dan mengalahkan para pembalap kawakan dari balapan satu ke balapan lain.

Tidak hanya itu, RV pun menikahi Radhika yang digila-gilainya sejak pertemuan pertama mereka. Mereka hidup bahagia dan memiliki dua anak yang lucu dan manis, Priya dan Ranveer. Namun setelah delapan tahun sukses sebagai pembalap, akhirnya RV terhenti oleh sebuah kecelakaan cukup fatal sehingga ia harus masuk ke rumah sakit. Setahun kemudian RV yang telah pulih pun kembali ke arena balap hanya untuk menemukan kenyataan menyakitkan.

Ia harus kalah dan kalah lagi tanpa bisa menang. Akibatnya pemilik tim Speeding Saddles memecatnya dan RV pun kehilangan sumber penghasilan. Karena ketidakmampuan mengelola keuangannya, RV, Radhika dan kedua anaknya harus meninggalkan rumah mewah mereka dan pindah ke rumah sewaan kumuh. RV dan Radhika kini harus mencari akal untuk menjelaskan bagaimana hidup mereka berubah 180 derajat itu kepada kedua anak mereka.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Raj Malhotra and Simran Singh (Shahrukh Khan and Kajol respectively) are young first generation British Indians brought up and living in London. Raj is the only child of wealthy Dharamvir Malhotra (Anupam Kher), who spoils his son excessively. Raj is a free-wheeling party boy, who is the first student at his tertiary institution to fail, something which is announced at his would-be graduation ceremony. Simran is the elder daughter of convenience store owner Chaudhry Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri), who is a very conservative and typical Indian man whose only dream is to one day go back to his native Punjab. He is proud that he has managed to bring up his two filial daughters in a very traditional way, who respect his conservative outlook. Simran constantly dreams of her Prince Charming, a stranger who comes into her life and sweeps her off her feet, and writes about him in her diary.

However, a letter comes from Ajit, Baldev's best friend in India saying that his son, Kuljeet (Parmeet Sethi), and Baldev's daughter, Simran, should marry each other, in accordance with a promise the two fathers had made to each other when their children were infants. Because of her "Prince Charming," Simran is a bit concerned. She has never seen Kuljeet before, but agrees to marry him out of respect for her father. However, before the wedding, she begs her father to allow her to go on a trip to Europe with her friends, her last chance to see the world before her marriage to a complete stranger and relocation to India. Even though he is generally very strict, Baldev relents and allows her to go, on the condition that she promises never to betray his trust.

During the trip, Simran bumps into Raj, who is also on a trip to Europe with some friends. After some initial misadventures, mainly due to disrespectful behaviour on the part of Raj, he falls in love with Simran. Only at their moment of parting at the railway station in London does Simran realizes that she too has fallen in love with Raj.

Simran goes home and tells her mother (Farida Jalal) that she has fallen in love with someone else and cannot go through with her wedding to Kuljeet. Baldev overhears their conversation, and is furious that Simran broke her promise that she would never betray his trust. He is adamant that she will marry Kuljeet as planned, and they will leave for India as soon as possible.

Even though Simran does not want to marry Kuljeet, her family returns to Punjab. As it turns out, Kuljeet is an arrogant alpha male who takes pride in being a shikari (hunter) and boasts to his macho friends that he will engage in marital infidelity. Simran's mother tries to spare her daughter's feelings, but cannot stand up to her domineering husband.

Raj, however, does not give up so easily. He follows Simran to Punjab, meets her privately, and assures her that he will save her from the arranged marriage and get her to marry him with the consent of her father. As such, he refuses to elope with Simran because he wants her family to endorse their marriage, even though Simran's mother tries to force her savings into his hand so that he can elope and look after Simran.

Raj befriends Kuljeet and pretends to be a friend of the family. He helps with the wedding preparations and soon gains everyone's friendship and love. At the same time, Kuljeet's sister, Preeti (Mandira Bedi), falls in love with Raj, and things become complicated when Raj's father suddenly appears in India. By now, even Simran's father Baldev has been won over by Raj, who has temporarily agreed to marry Preeti so that he can get close to both families.

However, everything comes crashing down when Baldev sees a photograph of Raj and Simran together when they were on their trip across Europe, which is blown out of his daughter's room into the courtyard. He exposes Raj's true identity in front of everybody, slaps him, and angrily tells him to leave immediately, as Simran will marry Kuljeet regardless of what anybody thinks. As Raj leaves and is sitting at the railway station ready to leave Punjab, Kuljeet and his friends follow him and nearly beat him senseless with sticks for his deception. However, when Raj's father tries to intervene and Kuljeet and his friends beat him as well, Raj flies into a rage and single-handedly beats Kuljeet and his friends with a stick he has wrestled from Kuljeet's group. Baldev then stops Raj and tells him and his father to go on their way; Raj and his father accordingly board a train out of the village. However, as the train begins to pull out of the station, Baldev comes to his senses and realizes that no one loves his daughter as much as Raj does. He tells Simran to join Raj on the train, which she enthusiastically does.

Dostana

Berbohong itu ternyata tidak mendatangkan kebahagiaan sejati. Gara-gara kebohongan itulah dua pria harus mengalami banyak kesulitan dalam mendapatkan cinta seorang gadis cantik. Itulah yang terjadi dalam film komedi romantis yang mengisi Sinema India pekan ini yaitu Dostana. Sayang jika film hasil arahan Tarun Mansukhani pada tahun 2008 yang menghadirkan Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham dan Priyanka Chopra ini dilewatkan begitu saja.

Film yang berlatar kota Miami, Amerika Serikat ini memulai kisahnya dengan dua pria yaitu Saamer Acharya (Abhishek Bachchan) yang bekerja sebagai perawat di sebuah rumah sakit Miami dan Kunal Chauhan (John Abraham) yang berprofesi fotografer sedang mencari sebuah kamar apartemen untuk tempat tinggal. Mereka yang sebelum tidak mengenal satu sama lain ternyata ingin menyewa kamar apartemen yang sama.

Namun pemilik apartemen yang ingin disewa itu malah menolak keinginan Sameer dan Kunal karena lebih memilih menyewakan kamar apartemen itu untuk kaum hawa. Rupanya kemenakan sang pemilik apartemen tersebut, Neha (Priyanka Chopta) yang cantik jelita itu menempati kamar kedua dalam apartemen yang akan disewakan dan sang paman khawatir kalau Neha akan diganggu dua pria yang memang ganteng itu.

Bingung mencari tempat tinggal lain, akhirnya Sameer mendapatkan ide unik yang didapatkan dari seorang tentara Amerika yang gay. Saamer dan Kunal pun berpura-pura menjadi pasangan gay agar mendapatkan kamar sewaan itu, Akal itu berhasil dan akhirnya mereka menjadi teman serumah dengan Neha. Banyak kelucuan terjadi ketika Saamer dan Kunal berusaha menyakinkan orang lain bahwa mereka gay padahal sebenarnya mereka pria normal.

Repotnya Saamer dan Kunal kemudian jatuh cinta kepada Neha yang menganggap mereka sahabat paling karibnya. Keadaan makin rumit dan konyol ketika bos Neha, Murli Baburao Apte (Boman Irani) yang benar-benar gay jatuh cinta dan ingin menikahi Sameer. Belum lagi reaksi ibu Saamer yang kaget setengah mati mendengar kabar putranya gay. Di sisi lain persaingan Saamer dan Kunal dalam merebut hati Neha makin berat lantaran muncul seorang pria yang mungkin menjadi idaman Neha, Abhimanyu Singh (Bobby Deol).

Salaam Namaste

Two young progressive Indians, Nikhil "Nick" Arora (Saif Ali Khan) and Ambar Malhotra or "Amby" (Preity Zinta), have left India to live their lives in Melbourne, Australia. Nick fled to Australia to become an architect. After becoming one, he got a commission to design a restaurant, where he works as the head chef and the restaurant has been named "Nick of Time". His job allows him have a laid-back lifestyle and get up late in the morning, both aspects that he values very much. In Bangalore, Ambar was shown twelve men for marriage and she rejected each one. Her parents suspected that she did not want to get married, however, she denied it. She went to Australia for a one-year foreign exchange program and decided to stay and become a surgeon. After hearing this, her parents cut off all ties with her. To pay for her education, she works as an R.J. at a local radio station, "Salaam Namaste".

When Nick is supposed to do an interview for Salaam Namaste, he oversleeps resulting in him getting insulted by Ambar on the air. His boss, Dheka, demands that he go to the to radio station or he will 'kill' him. Nick oversleeps again and he is, once again, insulted by Ambar for being late. Nick gets work catering for one of Ambar's friends wedding. His best friend Ranjan "Ron" Mathur (Arshad Warsi) falls in love with Ambar's best friend Cathy (Tania Zaetta) at the wedding. Nick also feels a connection with Ambar, although they have no idea who the other really is. Ron and Cathy marry the next day and Nick and Ambar discover each other's true identities. Nick has the interview on Salaam Namaste, where he states, publicly, that he loves Ambar. They both end up at Ron and Cathy's house, where the two just had a fight. Nick persuades Ambar to move in together, where they fall in love. Two months later, Ambar discovers she is pregnant, Nick takes her to get an abortion that she later tells him she did not have, resulting in a break up.

Over the next five months, they have several comical disagreements. Nick finds a restaurant to buy, but the loan was not approved and he cannot afford the downpayment because he spent all his money on the house to live with Ambar. This results in another argument where the baby kicks for the first time and Nick realizes he still loves Ambar. He goes to buy an engagement ring and sees a seven-months pregnant Ambar trying on rings with her friend, Jignesh (Jugal Hansraj). Nick thinks that Ambar is marrying Jignesh and is devastated. He goes and gets drunk and takes an Australian girl home with him. When he wakes up, he is shocked, but the girl (Stella) is angry because he didn't do anything and was crying out Ambar's name all night. Nick is greatly relieved, but then Ambar sees her in the bedroom and is very upset and tells Nick she's moving out today. Then, Nick discovers that when Ambar was trying on rings, it was for Jignesh's girlfriend, Tina. He desperately searches for Ambar with the help of many devoted Salaam Namaste listeners. He finds her and apologizes but, when he is about propose, Ambar's water breaks, so they rush to the hospital.

At the hospital, Ron is there with Cathy, who's giving birth as well, and the nurse turns out to be Stella, the woman Nick had slept with. She tells Ambar that he didn't do anything that night and is in love with Ambar, who finally realizes Nick's true love for her. They then meet the incompetent obstetrician Dr. Vijay Kumar MDGGO (Abhishek Bachchan), who turns out to be a very comical and horrible doctor, but manages to deliver the children. Ambar gives birth to twins and Nick proposes to her to which she happily agrees.
